Autism and Socializing: Connection Can Look Different

Wanting less social interaction does not automatically mean a child is lonely or uninterested in others. Some children prefer parallel play, one trusted friend, shared-interest connections or shorter periods of social time. Supporting meaningful connection works better than measuring success by how social a child appears.
